Zion Learns to See at Mission 1:27

One of our dearly loved community organizations is Mission 1:27, who does an excellent job in fulfilling the scripture James 1:27 to the residents of the Walton communities. Recently our volunteers hosted a devotional time for the children at two different locations in which the children were challenged to see people as Jesus did. The songs, activities, and story Zion Learns to See motivated the children to make cards to be added to Care Packs.

Zion Learns to See tells the story of young Zion who -- upon accompanying her father to a local homeless shelter and witnessing him greeting each person by name -- learns not to be afraid of people who live differently than she does and to treat all people with the same love, joy, humanity, and dignity she sees reflected in her father's actions. Care Packs are small bags of toiletries and other items that are given out to encourage our neighbors currently experiencing homelessness; these cards will surely be cherished by those who receive them.
