November Birthday Heroes Celebration

What a wonderful crew of Birthday Heroes we had on Saturday, November 22, at Youth Villages in Douglasville! Having several new volunteers, we quickly reviewed our "why we do things the way we do," one being the chair cover. We are limited in what we can take and do; therefore to honor the birthday child, we use a birthday chair cover to designate the birthday child’s chair. The first time we used one, the child wanted us to turn it around; he wanted to see the decoration of the cake and candles as he sat in the chair. We watched as he turned his head to the left and the right and the happiness on his face as he had the honor to sit on the birthday throne. Ever since then our birthday chair covers go on backwards!

There are many little tidbits on the "why and how we do things," and each one has a story behind it! Besides that, every Birthday Hero has special stories of the children they meet and interact with at Youth Villages! Those 18+ in age are encouraged in joining our efforts in hosting monthly birthday parties for the children and many lasting stories of you own will be made.
